From San Diego we headed north up to Long Beach to park at the Golden Shores RV Resort.  We have stayed here before since it is the closest RV park to Torrance.  It takes only about 15 minutes to get to Valerie’s Mom’s house from there.

We made the move to Long Beach on New Year’s Eve.  From the park it is a very short walk into the heart of downtown Long Beach.  We took the above picture as we made that walk on New Year’s Eve.  You can see the Queen Mary and a Carnival cruise ship in the background.  Along Pine Avenue you can find many options for food and beverages.  So, early in the evening of 12/31/2018, before it got too busy with celebrants, we walked along Pine Ave and stopped into a couple of the restaurants to snack and raise a glass to the new year.

On New Year’s Day we went to Mom’s to kick off the new year with her “good luck soup”.
