Colimilla is a small village located on the peninsula of Isla de Navidad just across the lagoon on the back side of Barra de Navidad. This part of the peninsula is dominated by the Grand Bay Hotel.
A short water taxi ride will take you to one of the restaurants in Colimilla along the shore of the lagoon. We chose Restaurant Mary’s and had a terrific lunch of ceviche and a fresh seafood salad with shrimp, mussels, octopus, crab and fish.
On July 31, 2014, we made the trip to Barra de Navidad, Mexico, in order to house sit. We got here by flying from Los Angeles to Mexico City, connecting to Manzanillo airport which is about 30 minutes south of Barra. The homeowner met us at the airport and drove us back to his house.

Over the Memorial Day weekend (May 22 through May 27, 2014) we had the opportunity to house sit in Rancho Cucamonga with a super nice cat named Simba. Our hosts took a trip to the Portand, OR, area in order to attend a photography workshop and visit with family.
They adopted Simba from someone in their neighborhood who wasn’t providing very good care for him. His new owners provide a very nice home for him and he seems really happy to be there. He spends most of his day out visiting and exploring his territory so he was super easy to sit for. Continue reading →
