Colimilla

Colimilla is a small village located on the peninsula of Isla de Navidad just across the lagoon on the back side of Barra de Navidad.  This part of the peninsula is dominated by the Grand Bay Hotel.

A short water taxi ride will take you to one of the restaurants in Colimilla along the shore of the lagoon.  We chose Restaurant Mary’s and had a terrific lunch of ceviche and a fresh seafood salad with shrimp, mussels, octopus, crab and fish.

Sitting in Torrance, CA

For two weeks we’re here in Torrance, CA, house and pet sitting with three Yorkies and a lovely little song bird.  Our friends Tim and Dinah are on a two week trip to Costa Rica.  Their comfortable home is at the very southern edge of Torrance on the border with Palos Verdes (or is it Rolling Hills?).  At any rate, the home is quite nice with a beautiful sactuary like back yard.

Needless to say, the Yorkies are very easy to care for and lots of fun.  We’re here from March 6 until March 21, 2013.

Molokai–Part 1

We arrived into Molokai on Monday, October 1, 2012.  We’re staying in one of the condos called Molokai Shores which is located just 1 1/4 miles east of the main town of Kaunakakai.  The photo below was taken from the patio of our first floor condo.  (The island you can see off shore is Lanai.)  There are about 100 units here.  We’ve met several nice people staying here, many of which own one of the condos that they occupy part time, during the mainland winter months.  They invited us to take part in their weekly “pot luck” dinner that they hold every Wednesday just before sundown at the picnic tables you can see in the photo.
