This was a brief stop for us after leaving Cochran, GA, on our way into central Florida. Cecil is located just off Interstate 75 about 30 miles north of the Georgia – Florida border. An interesting thing about this RV park is that all of the trees scattered throughout the park are pecan trees and there were lots of pecans on the ground for us to gather and sample. They were quite good.
Next stop: Ocala, FL
While in Charleston it became clear that we would need to alter our plans in order to avoid an encounter with this storm. From Charleston we had intended to go to Savannah, GA, in part to visit with another of Valerie’s sisters, Kathy. However, since the coastal areas of Georgia and the Carolinas were expected to be heavily impacted we decided to move inland.
For our visit to Atlanta (pics), it was cold. When we arrived it was raining and the forecast was for a rapid drop in the temperature overnight. The next morning we were greeted with temps in the low teens and fairly strong wind. I think the highest temperature we saw that day was 29 degrees. A little crisp for walking around the streets of Atlanta.
We arrived in Augusta (pics) on December 31, 2013, New Years Eve. Since we were there on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day things were pretty quiet so we don’t have much to tell you about Augusta.
