The kids are back in school, we have left the crowds and congestion of the northeastern states and have reached the Blue Ridge Mountains of western Virginia and North Carolina. Cooler temperatures, clean mountain air and a slower pace as summer slowly winds down. We entered the Blue Ridge Parkway near an area known as Meadows of Dan and drove south to Galax, VA. Here we parked at the Cool Breeze Campground.

We visited New Orleans on our road trip in 2014. It was in January and was pretty cold at the time but we managed to get around to see a lot of the city. You can check out our blog article from that trip.
Even though I spent my first 21 years living just 100 miles north of Nashville (pics), this was my first time to visit there as a sightseer. We began our tour at the Tennessee State Capitol Building. Unfortunately, the building is closed on the weekend so we were not able to tour the inside.
