As we continue to explore the wide variety of the types of experiences that RV Parks can provide, Aspen Acres is an interesting one. We wanted a sort of staging point prior to beginning our visits to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. We chose Ashton, ID, (pics) and Aspen Acres Golf and RV Resort.
In Shelley, ID, (pics) we parked for two nights at the North Bingham County Park which has 12 RV spaces on the grounds of this park that sits alongside the Snake River. Our reason for being in Shelley has to do with the levelers on our motorhome. They stopped working when we were in Northern California at Eagle Lake. The jacks simply no longer operate. We arranged to have it checked out in Bend, OR, where they determined that the motor that operates the leveling jacks was defective and would have to be replaced. When they contacted the manufacturer, they were told that the part is not stocked and would need to be built requiring about two weeks.
Arco, Idaho, (pics) is a quiet small town in eastern Idaho but staying here at the Mountain View RV Park allowed us to visit two very interesting nearby sites.
If you were driving along US Highway 20 in eastern Idaho, you might well not give much notice as you pass by Picabo, ID (pics), pronounced pick’-a-boo. There’s not much to attract your attention, the Picabo Angler store with Texaco gas pumps and the Rancher’s Supply store across the street are the only noticeable enterprises. Alongside the highway is a small RV park with 17 spaces which is adjacent to a field belonging to one of the many ranches around Picabo, this one has about 40 or 50 sheep, two llamas and two horses. Nice neighbors.
Boise (pics) is the capital of Idaho so we stopped off here to have a look at another state capitol building. Our visit was actually three nights at Ambassador RV Resort in Caldwell, ID, which is a little west of Boise.
