Eloy, AZ, is located about 50 miles south of Phoenix, just off Interstate 10, near Casa Grande, AZ. I can’t tell you much about Eloy because there just isn’t much to it. We were looking for a quiet place to spend the first week of January and we definitely found it.
We were parked at the Silverado RV Resort which has recently changed hands and the new management seems to be making improvements. It’s a large park with mostly back-in sites. Fifth wheel owners prefer pull thru sites but it doesn’t make much difference to us. This is a 55+ park which is extremely common in this part of Arizona. They seem to developing more “park models” which is essentially a mobile or manufactured home more or less permanently attached to one of the sites.
Many of the parks in Arizona also have pickleball courts. I don’t recall ever encountering pickleball before but apparently it’s a game that uses paddles larger than ping pong and smaller than tennis with a lightweight ball. It seems to share many characteristics of tennis and badminton. We have yet to try it but we’ll report back once we do.
The park had a nice selection of fruit trees scattered throughout with lemons, oranges, grapefruit and tangerines. We were told to help ourselves to the fruit. Valerie tried several and found some very nice lemons and tangerines. She was inspired to make a tangerine chocolate cake which turned out very nice.
Next stop: Mesa, AZ
