We arrived in Augusta (pics) on December 31, 2013, New Years Eve.  Since we were there on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day things were pretty quiet so we don’t have much to tell you about Augusta.

Most people know that Augusta plays host to the PGA’s Masters Tournament.  This is one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments and it is played at the Augusta National Golf Course, the only one of the major tournaments that is played at the same golf course every year.

Musician James Brown called Augusta home from the time his family moved there when he was 5 years old.  His talent was first recognized when he won a talent competition at Augusta’s Lenox Theatre.

Augusta is situated along the Savannah River and has a very nice River Walk park area suitable for walking or just hanging out by the river.  Perhaps I had my expectations too high but I didn’t find Augusta very appealing.  Perhaps I would feel differently if I was there when the azaleas and dogwoods are in bloom.
