Louisville (pics) is the largest city in Kentucky. It is located in what is referred to as the Bluegrass region of Kentucky and of course Kentucky is known as the “Bluegrass State”.
Most people know that Louisville is the home of Churchill Downs, home for the Kentucky Derby. Perhaps the most widely known horse race, the Derby has a long and rich history. The Kentucky Derby Museum is located on the grounds of Churchill Downs. It provides a look into the horses, owners, jockeys and trainers that have all played a part in the 140 year history of the “running for the roses”.
We also toured the Louisville downtown checking out the Louisville Slugger factory, C21 Hotel and Museum, Fourth Street Live, Whiskey Row and Riverfront Park. We enjoyed our exploration of Louisville and would like to return in the summer to better enjoy the outdoor activities.
