It’s Ski Season

On January 14, 2013, we finally made our way to Tahoe for some skiing.  The Sierra Mountains had good early snowfall and ski areas have built up a good base.  We have been able to ski a bit so far and conditions have been excellent.  We’ve had clear skies with daytime temps in the mid 40’s.  Not warm enough to get any significant melting but warm enough for comfortable skiing.

We expect to be here (mostly) until early March.  We have a two week house sitting in Truckee beginning in mid-February.

Hunter and his blanketAs for our year so far, we began the year with house sitting in Hermosa Beach, once again with Hunter the wonder dog.  That was from December 30, 2012, until January 5, 2013.

We had to wait an additional week to make the trip to Tahoe in order to allow time for some dental surgery for me.

Valerie got the news that her son Jason and his wife Ashley (who got married back in August 2012) are now expecting a baby later this year in September.  Naturally, the whole family is excited about that.

Plus, my San Francisco 49ers are heading to the Superbowl for the first time in 18 years.  So, a good start to the year.  We look forward to more skiing over the next few weeks along with the house sitting in Truckee which is close to the Northstar ski resort.  Following that we will head back to Southern California to house sit for friends of ours who live in Torrance.
