We’ve been out a few more times in the past week. The weather has been so awesome, mid 70’s, sunshine and bright blue skies.
Truckee River Trail – This biking and walking trail begins in Tahoe City on the western edge of town. There’s a nice parking lot for trail users. The trail heads west, as you might guess, following the Truckee River. You pass the River Ranch Lodge and Alpine Meadows Road before crossing over the river and reaching a point where you can cross over Highway 89 into Squaw Valley. The path continues another 2.3 miles to the Squaw Valley Ski resort and village. Perfect place to stop for a snack before heading back.
While staying here in Lake Tahoe we have taken advantage of some of the excellent hiking opportunities that are available. Here are a couple we have enjoyed so far.

We thought it would be fun to review some of our favorite street foods we encountered in our recent trip to Mexico. You have to start with the ubiquitous fruit and juice carts. They will generally have a variety of cut fruits like mango, watermelon, papaya, pineapple, jicama and sometimes cucumber. Of course, you can have a little salt and chili powder sprinkled on top with a good squeeze of lime. The cart in the photo was located just outside of the main market in Guadalajara. It’s a daily treat.
